LNST Cardiff Literacy Intervention Programme (CLIP) - Reading

Create, deliver and manage bespoke reading interventions for primary school children with literacy difficulties.

Outline

This 2 x half-day course is for Teachers/SENCos/ALNCos accompanied by a Teaching Assistant who has already undertaken the relevant LNST modules (Module 1 - Oracy, Module 2 - Phonological Awareness/Phonics, Module 3 - Reading/Running Records) or equivalent (e.g. previous training in STARS or SAIL).

Following the training, there is an expectation that TAs deliver a small group intervention.

Yn dilyn yr hyfforddiant, mae disgwyl i’r Cynorthwywyr Dysgu ddarparu ymyrraeth grwp bach.

Description

This course brings together the key aspects of the relevant LNST modules and gives school staff the skills they need to create, deliver and manage bespoke reading interventions for their primary-aged pupils, particularly those at Stage 2 of the Graduated Response.

In line with the forthcoming ALN reforms, it is expected that the interventions are driven by the Teacher and supported by a suitably trained Teaching Assistant. Small group intervention should be followed up in the classroom. A maximum of 4 places can be booked; at least 1 Teacher/SENCo and ALNCo must attend.

Following the training, there is an expectation that TAs deliver a small group intervention.

The first half-day will outline the assessment, planning and teaching processes.

The second half-day is a follow up sessions for attendees the CLIP Reading AND CLIP Writing Courses and will provide opportunities to analyse the data collected, address any issues that have arisen and share good practice.

Yn dilyn yr hyfforddiant, mae disgwyl i CD ddarparu ymyriad grwp bach.

Bydd yr hanner diwrnod cyntaf yn amlinellu'r prosesau asesu, cynllunio ac addysgu.

Mae'r ail hanner diwrnod yn sesiwn dilynol ar gyfer y rhai sydd wedi mynychu’r cwrs ‘CLIP Reading’ a ‘CLIP Writing’ ac mi fydd yn cynnig cyfleoedd i ddadansoddi'r data a gesglir, mynd i'r afael ag unrhyw faterion sydd wedi codi a rhannu arfer da.

Outcomes

Teachers/SENCos/ALNCos will have the skills required to plan, manage and support Teaching Assistants to deliver bespoke reading interventions for children with literacy difficulties, and to follow up this work effectively in the classroom.

Teaching Assistants will have the skills required to assist with the planning of bespoke reading interventions and to deliver small group sessions confidently.

Bydd gan athrawon/cydlynwyr AAA/ALNCos y sgiliau sydd eu hangen i gynllunio, rheoli a chefnogi cynorthwywyr addysgu i ddarparu ymyriadau darllen pwrpasol ar gyfer plant sydd ag anawsterau llythrennedd, a dilyn y gwaith hwn yn effeithiol yn yr ystafell ddosbarth.

Bydd gan gynorthwywyr addysgu y sgiliau sydd eu hangen i gynorthwyo gyda'r gwaith o gynllunio ymyriadau darllen pwrpasol a chyflwyno sesiynau grwp bach yn hyderus.

Booking Information

At least 2 places must be booked per school (1 place for a Teacher/SENCo/ALNCo and 1 for a Teaching Assistant). Schools may book up to 4 places in total.

Rhaid archebu o leiaf 2 le ar gyfer pob ysgol (1 lle ar gyfer athro/ALNCo ac 1 ar gyfer cynorthwy-ydd addysgu). Gall ysgolion archebu hyd at 4 lle yn gyfan gwbl.
